In early 2001 this metaphysical/new age store opened in Carson City, Nevada. Amongst the stores spiritual items, ritual supplies,
books and classes teaching spiritual/metaphysical topics, All Things Mystickal hosted psychics and intuitive readers. TVI member
Sandie, also a psychic reader who uses stones and crystals as her tools, gave readings at All Things Mystickal until the store closed
at the end of 2007. Sandie proposed an investigation of the store and building to her teammates in May 2006.
Summary:
Though energies were present in the entirety of the store, TVI was also given access to the back part of the store, away from the main sales
floor, and to the secure fire-walk hallway which ran immediately behind the building complex. After the initial investigation, TVI had the pleasure of
investigating this store on numerous occasions.
Location History and Status:
We were stymied when we tried to glean historical information about the land or building structure itself; every source we pursued held little to no
information. We have concluded, though, from many spirits interviewed here, that a hotel once stood on this piece of land. During one spirit
interview, a Chinese woman named Lin stated that she worked at the hotel. As well, while interviewing the spirit of Adah Menken, a mid-1860s
daredevil bare-back horse rider, Adah stated she stayed at the hotel while the show she performed with was in town.
The "hotel" information isn't entirely conclusive, and there are oddities of the structure’s design that seriously confuse any visual identification.
The current composition of the building is of cinder block, similar to many buildings constructed in the 1950’s. Though the current entrances
face west, in the “back” of the stores in this building complex there are openings in the walls (bricked or walled off, now) that resemble windows
and “fire-escape” doors, leading us to conclude that the building’s entrances once faced east. The doors at the back of the stores, however,
now open onto an enclosed hallway, constructed of different materials than the main building. This “fire-walk” hallway runs the entire length of
the backside of the building. Essentially, there aren't any remaining structures, due to past fires and multiple re-constructions of the building, that
would help identify prior designs or uses.
Some of our finds:
Of the many spirits in this building, Sandie saw a cowboy/ranch hand, or a man dressed as such, who manifested as a full apparition three times
to her in her seven years at All Things Mystickal. The “Cowboy,” as team members refer to him, wasn't much of a talker when he chose to be
interviewed, but indicated that his name was Al. This isn't entirely accurate, as he also responded that his name could have been Allen, or
Albert, or something that begins with Al. His presence was felt often, though he interacted with people very little. He did, however, enjoy looking
at Sandie’s reading stones. Each time Sandie saw him, he was leaning over the reading table and appeared to be examining the minerals. It
wasn't until the store was closing in 2007, when TVI had one final investigation, that the Cowboy was captured on film above TVI Sandie as she
was talking to him using the dowsing rods.
Murdock’s, a clothing store in Carson City for over 40 years, was housed in the same complex next door to All Things Mystickal. The owner,
George Murdock, died in 2006, but soon after his death rapping and tapping was heard on the wall separating the stores. The spirit of George
Murdock was interviewed several times in the hallway behind the stores. Included on this report is a video showing a floating anomaly that we
believe to be this store owner's energy. Murdock expressed on several occasions during interviews that he didn't want his store to close now
that he was gone.
The air in the back hallway behind the stores had always felt quite heavy, and there is a constant sense of “something wrong.” Store owners,
many store employees and friends, building maintenance personnel and others have complained of a sense of oppression, and a feeling of
being watched while in the fire-walk hallway. In January 2007, after hearing something tapping on the metal exit door to the back hallway, Sandie
asked the team to come once again to the store to investigate. During this particular investigation in the hallway, TVI member Sandie was
assaulted by a nasty entity, which physically pinned her to the wall and choked her, and simultaneously lashed out psychically with feelings of
anger, death, and terror that were felt by all nearby team members. With the aid of the store manager, Sandie was released from the grip of the
creature and literally pulled back into the store and out of the hallway. Though this entity was never again encountered again physically, its
presence relentlessly hovers near the roof in the hallway, observing the hallway activity, especially whenever TVI was around. We haven’t had
any success in confirming this being’s nature or habits, except that it is territorial, and Very angry.
The TVI Perspective:
Both the Cowboy’s fascination in the rocks and crystals, and George Murdock’s concern about his shop illuminate that when someone has
crossed over, their interests, careers and living concerns still hold an attraction or draw for them. Though the clothier’s worry is understandable,
the stoic Cowboy never revealed the source of his interest in Sandie’s reading stones.
Not all spirits we encounter on our investigations are peaceful or nice. Running into the entity shows us that ghost hunters need to be prepared
for any type of paranormal or supernatural activity. The world is full of mystery, and it is always best to keep aware of your surroundings and
accept the possibility that any environment might house something other than Casper the Friendly Ghost.
It is sad that this metaphysical store had to close because of the collapsing economy and easy availability of products over the Internet. It was a
wonderful shop for those looking for special supplies, gathering information, finding an intuitive Reader, and making new friends. This store
housed many interesting spirits that came forward to be known and say hello. And why not? This shop was dedicated to improving people’s
spiritual, psychic, and energetic connections to the Universe, and also carried items to draw forth connections from the physical plane to those
who had crossed over.
Outside of the many interesting spirits, this store was a second home for TVI member Sandie, and a great place to investigate ¬ we could contact
the other side, and then shop!
