There is an antique store in a small community twenty minutes from Carson City in which we Thin Veilers have had the
fortunate opportunity to investigate extensively.
Location History and Status:
Built in the 1870's for Genoa's first Undertaker, this house has been previously documented as a haunted location by many investigators. It
currently is operated as an antique store, and is also the central site for the yearly Peddler's Fair, a venue for local and distant talent to share,
sell and present their hand crafted goods.
Some of our finds:
The owner, Martha, carries a wide array of items in her shop, furniture to figurines, including a globally known haunted picture. Several people
from numerous locations around the world have tried to purchase this painting, and when they try the painting drops from the wall, at one time
almost causing a fire as it damaged an electrical outlet, or it disappears - reappearing after the potential buyer leaves the dwelling.
Mary, the name of the spirit whose painting this belonged to, was adamant that Martha not sell the painting. When Martha agreed to not sell the
painting, paranormal activity stopped.
We have discovered other spirits within that 'reside' in the Dake House.
An indigenous man who takes care of the water around this dwelling, will, at times come and visit the customers in the Yellow Room. He stays
mostly in the basement as the hot water heater is there and way under the building is a creek. He has the best of both worlds in the basement -
hot and cold running water!
Also, a confederate soldier likes to hang out in the Yellow Room next to a particular shelf unit, but I believe we caught his face in a display case,
as his hat looks like part of the military uniform worn during that conflict.
Martha's mom, Bernice, stays in the bedroom in which she has passed. She can be mean to customers who don't believe in ghosts. As one
investigator from another ghost hunting group found out the hard way. He was telling Martha there were no ghosts in this dwelling when a plate
flew off the wall and hit him smack dab in the face. His opinions were corrected, obviously.
Children like to play in an upstairs bedroom. Many times we have captured children's laughter on EVP in this room. One small boy spirit asked
me where his rocking horse went. And a few years later, a customer of this shop, who was looking around in the upstairs bedrooms, told Martha
that a boy spirit asked where his rocking horse was! Cool!
The famous Butt Print. During an annual Halloween Spirit Tour where we Thin Veilers are the featured guests, we discovered that Martha's
mother likes to sit on a bed. We would smooth out the spread, leave the room just for a few moments, return, and the butt print would be visible
again the material.
The Barn is very haunted due to this being the holding place for bodies during the winter months when burial had to be delayed. It is a very eerie
place and when you walk in, you know something is just not right. Many orbs are caught on film, many EVP are captured on digital recorders. It is
a ghost hunter's delight, this barn.
Night time is a great time to capture orbs around this dwelling. Could it be those who Mr. Dake 'tended' to who decided to remain? You be the
judge.

could take his picture with he obliging with an energy orb captured on film.
