Dayton General Store
Dayton, Nevada, U.S.A.
Built in the 1860's, the Dayton General Store is one of Dayton's three original mercantile store, is also housed a Chinese
laundry service in its basement.

Location History and Status:
Built in the 1870's for Genoa's first Undertaker, this house has been previously documented as a haunted location by many investigators.  It
currently is operated as an antique store, and is also the central site for the yearly Peddler's Fair, a venue for local and distant talent to share,
sell and present their hand crafted goods.

Some of our finds:
March 15, 2007, Thursday   3:00 - 8:00 p.m.
The General Store, Claude Sapp - Owner     65 Main Street   Dayton Nevada USA

Always an impressive little town, as far as spirit-wise, I'd been anxious for the past two weeks about investigating this fabulous building. Waiting
outside for all to assemble, we heard music from an old time piano.
And it was coming from the Levi Strauss building across the street - a notably haunted building with documented phantom piano music heard.

Meeting Claude, the gracious building owner, and Karen, the delightful newspaper reporter, made this investigation even more fun and
interesting.

Upon entering the front door, when introductions were presented, I immediately felt the numerous spirits that were living here, and felt the
different time levels of spirits: that of the 1880s, and 1990s.

Claude, giving us the tour, was most helpful in his enthusiasm and interest. The front room felt very thick with spirits, but the second section of
this building held a vast amount, thus making it hard for me to breath. A sign that numerous spirits inhabit this room. (Liken to breathing very
humid air)

The third section of this building, what I call the Carriage Light room, held a fascination for me. The lights - what looked to be old gas light fixtures
-  and the spirits felt peaceful in this room. Enquiring if the brick north wall was original, Claude stated the red brick in the second section was
probably so, as the south ending of this room was the original back end of the building. Perhaps the carriage lights were the back door area of
the building next door.

The back section of this building was fascinating, as it housed the cellar staircase, rest room, plus sink fixtures along the south wall. How
interesting for this room to be having so many 'entrances and exits' for the spirits to come and go, as with the open staircase, and all the open
pipes. Also, numerous holes were in the bathroom floor and ceiling. All gateways for our Ghosty friends to come to visit.

Another small room was entered from this back section. It was a room we felt a very strong female presence. Toward me, it wasn't too nice of a
presence, and I felt that we were intruding upon her personal 'space' which she was quite adamant in protecting we found out later.

Placing our recorders in intriguing areas, we then set our 'toys' around the building - that of setting glass beads (on the stairs) and puff-balls in
particular rooms so the spirits can easily move them while walking by,  wanting to play, or in general, letting us know someone was there. To
continue, no puff-ball was moved, but a few of the glass beads upon the basement stairs had been move, and turned over.

Down the wonderful steep staircase we go, and how fascinating of energies were felt in the caller. Again, it being very hard for me to breathe, I
told the spirits we were here only to take pictures, not to bring harm. I felt a lot of fearful spirits  - they wondering why we were here.
Note: Sometimes the spirits know who and what we are. And their first thought is that we have come to send them away. Speaking confirming and
comforting words to them, eases their worries. And when they feel secure in their place, not threatened in any way, then, they let me breathe
easier.
Taking my first step onto the floor, I immediately saw an elderly man, sitting in the wooden barrel chair at the other end of the basement. He
turned around and looked at us with bored interest. He was quite elderly, almost bald, some type of gingham looking shirt on, left arm hanging
over the chair back letting his body turn to view us, and chewing tobacco or gum or something. I asked him how old he was and he only said,
"Old." He didn't speak further. He didn't participate in any of the interviews. It was respectful to just leave him alone in peace.
Later in the evening upon the return to the cellar area, I did ask him how old he was, and his reply was, "84." I enquired to confirm that he said
he was 84, and he nodded.

The corner opposite the stairs held a deep fascination for me. And it was interesting to have the red and white life preservers hanging on the
wall for I felt they were a wonderful symbol, like that of a "Welcome" sign to the spirits, in that they were welcome to preserve their earthly-plane
'life' while they were visiting this building/basement.
This corner also had numerous energies, and upon readying the dowsing rods, I asked if there was a spirit wanted to talk to me. I heard
"everyone" in reply. No interview proceeded in this section at this time due to too many energies,  although, one entity really wanted to speak,
thus the strong draw to the this corner.
The many holes in the walls, floors and ceilings held my interest throughout the entire investigation, as I could feel certain and particular
energies emanating from, and entering/exiting the basement from them.

Marilyn began an interview with a Chinese man named Quin. And he was quite the tease, a jokester to be sure. He was toying with Marilyn giving
her strange answers to her questions. Once he was found out though, he began to be more serious in his demeanor. Read the interview, written
on it's own page.

It is interesting to note that Claude pointed out a beam with the prior store owner's name - that being John A. Bonham - with date scribed of July
1886. Claude was interested in an interview with Mr. Bonham, but upon this occasion, it wasn't to be.
Claude also pointed out two ceiling boards mended with wood from (perhaps) boxes of supplies, as one fix had "B.T. Babbitt's" soap label,
andanother fix had a July 15, 1868  laundry soap instruction in it's writing. Both interesting, as Marilyn's interview with Mr. Quin brought forth
information that at one time laundry was tended to in this basement area.

Up on the main floor, I was anxious and interested in interviewing the now felt strong female energy in the small room entered from the back
section room.
Note: Please know that I can hear the spirits when they are speaking, but use the dowsing rods to confirm answers and for the visual benefit of
my team members and building owners/guests who are viewing the interview.
When I first entered into this room, the spirit first showed herself to me as a witch: Black dress or cape, pointed hat. When I walked to the back of
the room so she could see me better, she then turned into an elderly woman with whom I interviewed.

The interview got squirrelly towards the end, for the spirit wanted me to talk to her son. And when he sourly said no to my enquiry of an
interview, I thus ended the connection, due to her telling me it was over, and, because the mother and son start arguing. (This is the first time I
have heard spirits argue!)
The woman didn't like me, only tolerated the interview and she was quite stern and sour herself in demeanor. I wonder if she presents herself as
a witch, to scare people off who can see her. She isn't sociable at all.
Later in the evening, I took another picture in this room, and she yelled at me to "Stop Taking Pictures!" But, she let me capture here energy.
In describing the woman, she was quite elderly ( I'm thinking she was the boy's grandmother actually). She had white hair, tight to her head,
weathered and lined face, hard looking facial features, darkish dress - perhaps brown, small, yet a little plump, not heavy set. The boy, from all I
could see him as, was approximately 15, blue-ish shirt that looked like a uniform shirt, dark hair, dark eyes, very small nose.

Next, I was feeling a draw to the front room, there pursued the Interview with what turned out to be with very polite and fun boys. The section by
the door got very cold to the point I started to shiver somewhat while touching it. The cold was a good sign that the spirits were at this very spot.
And so, an investigation began, with the surprising discovery of talking to three spirits at the same time! They appeared to be quite excited that I
could see and hear them.

In describing them, they were not easy to view in detail, for all three of their energies where 'swirling' around each other - as to how I was seeing
them - although they were standing still at the same time. It is difficult to explain this. One boy, on the right, had extremely bright red hair. The
boy in the middle and to the left, come to find out, where family, looked similar in their facial characteristics, having dark hair and eyes. Their
short hair had a non-brushed ratty-ness. This is about all I could view of them. They were so much fun to talk to. And the visions they gave me,
like the explosion, was very detailed so I'd understand what they were conveying. After the interview was over, the room had noticeably warmed
up.

Marilyn then interviewed a spirit named Lester, in the middle section of this building. It was quite interesting to note that the rods kept pointing to
the shelving along the south wall. And Lester was getting very upset because he was talking about a document, a deed that was hidden, and no
one could figure out just where the rods were pointing to. Perhaps it was an unwritten deed, or unrecorded deed. Lester was very adamant in his
rising anger about this piece of paper though.
Lester was getting quite irate, and so I suggested that Marilyn take over the interview. Marilyn has a calm way with interviewing the spirits, and
thusly Lester did calm down. But gave no more useable information to the claim he was making.

Marilyn went right into another interview with a female spirit, whom I dubbed "Antoinette".  She was an interesting subject, as she wouldn't tell
Marilyn where she came from, only that she was from another country. Perhaps she was embarrassed of her home town, or mother land.  ???

During this interview, I checked on the puffballs that were in the front northeast corner of this room, and a blast of very cold air hit me. It lasted
only a few seconds, but it sure was cold! Brrrrr!!

It was suggested that he and I interview the 3 Boys again, (I really should call them men) as he felt they wanted to give or receive messages. It
was a very interesting interview, as I helped two of the boys cross over in to the light, so the youngest boy/man could be with a child he never
saw born. And, that the Red Haired boy/man wanted to find his dog!  I am amazed at the priorities from the spiritual world - the same as on this
earthly plane.

This second trip to the caller left me choking at the bottom of the stairs. An old man, who was wearing a black suit coat, about 45 to 50 years of
age, with dark hair and small mustache,  was standing there. And he was quite irritated of my intrusion into his space. Thus the choking: a sign
the spirits are not happy with me at all. Talking to him, telling him we are only taking pictures, he relented, let me breathe and then he walked
through the south wall out of the basement.

The air got cold...quite noticeably. There was air coming up from the floorboard spaces. I could feel eyes on us, from below those boards. While I
was peering down at the boards, someone tickled my neck.
And a little old man was sitting there still watching us. I put my hand on his shoulder to show Marilyn where he was sitting. The old man didn't
mind my touching him at all. He understood that other's needed to know where he was. Thank you little man. You've been so wonderful, just
sitting here watching us.

Climbing up the stairs after the interviews were done in this fascinating basement, a young woman (spirit) cried out, "Don't Go." I asked Marilyn if
she heard it, but it was only audible to me.

It was interesting in that exiting the back door and turning towards the building to take photos, I was hit with spatial adjustments. What I mean:
When I walked through the building, it felt at least a half mile in length. The inside felt about three times the actual width. Looking at the building
from outside, I was literally slammed back into earthly plane space, and adjusting to this deception is quite unnerving.
I believe this spatial deception is due to my being able to be on the 'spiritual plane.'  And once back in the earthly plane existence, - such as the
outside world -  my sense of space needs to be adjusted also.
